Dick had a 25 year university career, working initially at the Royal Veterinary College, London and latterly at the Cambridge Veterinary School where he was Senior Lecturer and head of Small Animal Surgery for 10 years. Dick works alongside Pieter Nelissen. Pieter has over a decade of experience in Small Animal Surgery, he has completed his Surgery Specialist training and he will be sitting his Specialist examinations in Small Animal Surgery in 2013. Our two ECVS Residents in Small Animal Surgery, Nic Woodbridge and Stefania Martinoli support the running of this clinic, alongside our Surgery Intern Tonje Trinterud.
In Soft Tissue Surgery, we routinely treat conditions of the ear nose and throat, the gastrointestinal tract, the urogenital system and we regularly perform wound management and reconstructive surgery. Oncological surgery is a field of special interest and expertise for us and Dick White is one of the few RCVS recognised Specialists in Small Animal Surgery to have also achieved RCVS recognised status as a Veterinary Oncology Specialist (Surgery). As soft tissue surgeons, we work closely with our Oncology Service performing.
Minimally invasive surgery is another area of particular interest for us and we commonly perform endoscopically assisted surgery to treat thoracic and abdominal problems, ensuring that our patients are subjected to the least possible level of surgical trauma.
We accept referrals specifically for Soft Tissue Surgery, and we provide a valuable service for cases referred to our Specialist colleagues in the other disciplines in the clinic.
"I hope you remember Oliver, the team operated on him last spring for a portosystemic shunt & I just want to take this opportunity to thank you all for your care & attention at that time and to let you know that he is doing great. He soon became the puppy he should always have been which obviously made my life harder but I wouldn't change him for the world.
