Richard Eastwood

Richard joined Dick White Referrals in February 2007. Richard is a Fellow of the Institute of Animal Technicians. Richard has worked in the veterinary profession for 34 years; 7 years studying foetal endocrinology and then 27 years in anaesthesia. Richard is interested in clinical anaesthesia, anaesthesia research and teaching final year veterinary students. His hobbies centre around breeding and showing welsh mountain ponies which doesn’t leave time for much else. Richard also keeps Llamas, parrots, sheep and an assortment of chickens.


Vikki Wells VN


Vikki joined Dick White Referrals in April 2006. Vikki qualified in 2001 and worked as a veterinary nurse for 8 years before joining Dick White Referrals she also holds her D32/D33 Assessor qualification.
Vikki is interested in small animal medicine. She has a horse called Bob, 3 dogs; Banner, Meah and Jack, Humbug the cat, a goldfish and 9 Koi carp.
Outside work Vikki enjoys swimming and horse riding.

 



Anya Owen Dip.HE.CVN.VN (Senior Medicine Nurse)

 
Anya joined Dick White Referrals in December 2006. She
qualified in July 2003, has her assessor qualification and is a veterinary healthcare advisor. Anya is currently studying for the Higher Educational Diploma in
Clinical Veterinary Nursing in conjunction with the RCVS Advanced Diploma. As the senior medicine nurse Anya enjoys her job and interested particularly in cardiopulmonary and internal medicine. Anya is
responsible for looking after our blood donors.
She has a sprockercalled Roxy and outside work enjoys generally being active, dog walking and horse riding in the countryside, taking snowboading holidays and trying to surf when near the sea!

 

  

Helen Silver VN, Cert SAN, Dip AVN (Dermatology)

 


Helen joined Dick White Referrals in December 2005. After qualifying in 2000 she worked in general practice and then joined a referral practice. Helen holds D32/33 assessor qualifications, a Certificate in Small Animal Nutrition, and gained her Diploma in Advanced Veterinary Nursing (surgical) in March 2005. Helen is interested in all aspects of dermatology especially allergic skin disease. Helen has a one eyed cat called Xiphi. Outside work Helen enjoys socialising, running, horse riding and spending time with her family.


Tammy Robinson VN


Tammy joined Dick White Referrals on the day the practice opened in July 2003. Tammy qualified as a veterinary nurse in 1992 and has previously worked in general practice and for an animal charity. Tammy is interested in radiography and medicine. Tammy has a cat called Albert. Outside work Tammy enjoys family life, socialising and cooking.

Jemma Johnson VN


Jemma joined Dick White Referrals in April 2007. Jemma qualified in 2003 and worked in a referral centre as a neurology nurse before joining Dick White Referrals. Jemma is interested in orthopaedics, physiotherapy and patient rehabilitation.  She is currently in her final year studying for the Certificate in Veterinary Physiotherapy in conjunction with the NAVP (National Association of Veterinary Physiotherapists).  She is also a pet healthcare advisor and qualified holistic therapist. Jemma has 3 dogs, 2 ferrets, 1 horse and lots of chickens. Outside work Jemma enjoys horse riding, country pursuits and family life.


Emma Clifforde Dip.HE.CVN.VN (Head Theatre Nurse)


Emma joined Dick White Referrals in September 2007.  She has worked in general practice for 11 years and qualified in 2000.  Emma's interests include neuro surgery, anaesthesia and general surgical nursing.  She is responisible for the running of the operating theatre.  Outside work Emma enjoys socialising, ballroom dancing and walking her dog Tiny.  Emma is currently studying for the H E Diploma in Clinical Veterinary Nursing in conjunction with the RCVS Advanced Diploma.


Helen North Dip.HE.CVN.VN

Helen joined Dick White Referrals in September 2007.  She previously worked in general practice and qualified in 2006.  Helen is interested in all aspects of theatre practice and surgical nursing, especially orthopaedics and anaesthesia.  Outside work Helen enjoys horseriding, jazzercise, socialising and camping.  Helen is currently studying for the H E Diploma in Clinical Veterinary Nursing in conjunction with the RCVS Advanced Diploma.

 

Janie Harrington VN

Janie joined Dick White Referrals in December 2007.  She qualified in 2000 and had previously worked in general practice as a head nurse and assessor.  Janie is interested in all aspects of veterinary referral work especially soft tissue surgery and anaesthesia.  Away from work Janie enjoys socialising and riding her horse Tilly.

Mel Thomason VN

Mel qualified as a veterinary nurse in 1994. She has worked  in general practice as a head nurse and assessor.  She has previously worked in a referrral practice before joining Dick White Referrals in January 2008 as a night nurse.  Mel enjoys all aspects of inpatient care.  Out of work Mel enjoys walking her three dogs Tilly, Pip and Stanley.  She also has two cats Hugo and Polly and a tortoise called Fred. 

 

Angel Thompson VN

Angel trained in general practice in Cambridge and joined Dick White Referrals in 2007 shortly after qualifying and currently works both day and night shifts.  She is most interested in critical care and inpatient nursing, and especially likes getting to know the patients.  Angel owns six cats; Harry, Sally, Tilly, Eddie, Louis and Salem. Her favourite pastime is reading and writing.  She likes nothing better than curling up with a good book and her many cats after a long night shift.

 

Kathryn Cook VN

kathryn trained in general practice and joined Dick White Referrals in March 2008 shortly after qualifying.  Kathryn works in the wards where she is most interested in intensive care nursing and patient rehabilitation.  She enjoys spending quality time with all the patients.  I her spare time Kathryn enjoys socialising with friends, travelling and walking her own dog "Forrest" a terrier cross.

Emily Mills VN

Emily graduated in 2003 from The Royal Veterinary College and Middlesex University with a BSc (Hons) in Veterinary Nursing.  She locumed and travelled for a year before moving to Jersey where she worked in a mixed practice for 3 1/2 years.  Emily joined Dick White Referrals in July 2008.  She enjoys all aspects of nursing but primarily anaesthesia and surgical nursing.  Emily has a 10 year old GSD cross called Beanz who only has one kidney! 

Becky Rawlinson VN (Neurology)

Senior Neurology Nurse

Becky joined Dick White Referrals in July 2008. Before working at Dick White Referrals, Becky worked at another referral practice and trained in March 2008.
Becky is interested in neurology, physiotherapy and rehabilitation and intensive care nursing.
Becky has a cocker spaniel called Milly and horses called Marat, Cuddles and Conrad.

Outside work she enjoys travelling abroad, socialising and looking after her animals.

 

Charlene Stowe VN (Neurology)

Neurology Nurse

Charlene joined Dick White Referrals in October 2008. She previously worked in general practice for 5 years and qualified in May 2008.
Charlene is passionate about neurology, intensive care nursing and physiotherapy, and she thoroughly enjoys her work.
Charlene has 3 cats called Magic, Jeffrey and Tinkerbell. Outside of work she enjoys travelling, snowboarding and reading.

 

Di Hassen VN

Di joined DWR in July 2008 as a member of our ward nursing team.

Previously she had worked in several veterinary practices such as the RSPCA wildlife hospital as wildlife assistant and Paul Davey Surgery as a head nurse.
Di qualified as a nurse in 1996.
In her free time Di plays hockey for Royston Hockey club. She is also a member of the Royston runners.
She also enjoys socialising and travelling with friends.

Di is also learning to speak Spanish for when she goes to visit the country with friends.

Trine Langvad VN

 

Trine joined DWR in January 2008 after moving from Oslo, Norway to Newmarket. She has worked in general practice since 1988.  In 1996 she sat her exams at The Norwegian School of Veterinary Science and became a qualified veterinary nurse.
Her main interests in nursing is the trauma patient and orthopedic nursing.
In addition to enjoying the professional aspects of the job, she is also amazed by the fantastic effort and communication between owners and veterinarians when illness and accidents strike. Nothing seems to be a problem not to be solved by either.

Outside work her main interests are riding racehorses (which she does every morning before work) and walking her two Labradors after work. And of course, since she is Norwegian, in the winter skiing is a must! 

Sarah Marsden VN

Sarah joined Dick White Referrals in March 2010 as one of the night nurses. She qualified in 2000, and has worked in general practices, an animal shelter as a senior nurse and assessor, Cambridge Vet School as a small and large animal theatre nurse, and for a local veterinary emergency service as a night nurse. Sarah is interested in all aspects of referral work, especially medical nursing. Out of work, she spends most of her time with her 4 dogs, Freya, Nell, Teazle and Pixie, and Jessica the 3-legged cat.  She enjoys yoga, reading, and studying for a BSc with the Open University.'

Alison Perfect VN

Alison has been working in practice for 8 years, qualifying in 2004 and joined DWR in July 2009 as a Night Nurse.  Alison has previously worked in 1st opinion practice and holds her A1 qualification.  She enjoys all aspects of nursing especially critical care nursing and post-op care.  Alison has a particular interest in exotic species and has 2 bearded dragons called Miah and Matala and 2 rats called Little Miss Naughty and Seren.  In her spare time she enjoys socialising with friends, reading, swimming and going home to Wales as often as possible.

 

Terry Lack VN (nights)
Senior night nurse
 
Terry joined Dick White Referrals in December 2007 as a night nurse. She has previously worked in general practice, charity clinics and out of hours emergency clinics.  Terry is most interested in emergency and critical care nursing.
At home she is kept busy with her 5 Border Terriers, 2 three leg cats rescued from a previous job and has several rescued parakeets.

 Georgina Herrington VN

Georgina has recently joined Dick White Referrals as a Night Nurse after training and qualifying in the Cambridge/Herts area. As a newly qualified Veterinary Nurse she hopes to carry on her education in the future in the medical side of nursing. Georgina’s hobbies include travelling, socialising with friends and her newly acquired tropical fish tank!
