The first appointment for your pet should normally be made in consultation with your own vet who will then contact us to arrange the appointment.
Please ensure that your own vet sends us:
• a letter of referral
• any relevant test results
• X-rays
We understand how anxious owners may be to get treatment underway for their pets and we endeavour to keep waiting times down to an absolute minimum. Typically, these are:
• Emergencies – usually admitted without delay.
• Urgent cases - within 48hrs.
• Routine cases - normally within a few days.
To assist with the accuracy of our records we will send you a registration form – please complete this and hand it to reception on your arrival at the centre.
We regret that we cannot offer advice directly to owners who have not been referred to us or comment on your pet’s current treatment unless we are authorised to do so by your own vet.
You will normally have a consultation with a specialist on the day of the appointment. This allows us to assess your pet’s problem and to discuss all the available options with you. Often your pet may need to stay with us for the day, or longer, whilst investigations, tests or treatments are carried out. If you have a morning appointment, please withhold food from your pet from midnight the previous day (this is not necessary for afternoon appointments). Please make sure however that your pet has access to water at all times.
On arrival at the centre, you are welcome to take your pet for a walk (if appropriate) in the paddocks to the right of the main drive. Please take a poop scoop with you!
If you pet is already on medication, or a prescription diet, please mention this at the time of the consultation and if possible, bring several days supply of this with you. You are welcome to leave any special food, toys etc that you would like your pet to have during their stay with us but please make sure that you leave a list of those items that you would like to have returned at reception.
