For Veterinary Surgeons
Facilities
Operating Theatre
The 3 theatre suites are fully equipped with state-of-the-art
facilities. Anaesthesia is delivered using Drager Cato or Datex
Aestiva machines, both of which have an in-built ventilator in case
intermittent positive pressure ventilation needs to be applied.
Routine monitoring is carried out through multiparametric Datex
AS/3 or Mindray T5. Electrocardiograms, pulse oximetry,
non-invasive oscillometric blood pressure, body temperature,
volatile anaesthetic monitoring capnography (end expiratory CO2)
are monitored in every animal. If necessary, invasive blood
pressure, central venous pressure and spirometry can also be
monitored. Body temperature is maintained during surgery with Bair
huggers and Hotdogs. Peristaltic infusion pump and syringe drivers
allow a precise administration of intravenous fluid.
The theatres are also equipped for minimally invasive
procedures, including thoracoscopy, laparoscopy and arthroscopy.
The endoscopic tower is composed of a Dyonoics orthopaedic shaver
system, insufflator, Linvatec camera, Linvatec Light source,
Arthrex fluid pump. A Gogaa diode laser can be used for open
procedures such as airway surgery (tonsillectomy) and endoscopic
procedures (ectopic ureter). A Force Triad Liagasure machine is
also available for haemostasis, ligation and tissue resection. The
theatres have digital viewing stations allowing surgeons access to
MRI, ultrasound or radiographic images during surgery. The theatres
contain radiolucent operating tables and portable fluoroscopy for
interventional radiography.
