Internal Medicine

The Internal Medicine service is headed by Rob Foale, assisted by Simon Tappin and Jon Wray, all of whom are Board-certified Specialists. It is one of the busiest veterinary internal medicine services in the UK, seeing over 2,000 challenging cases each year.

We offer a comprehensive cardiorespiratory service, including echocardiography, ultrasound and phonocardiography and routinely undertake such procedures as pericardial drainage, assessment and pericardiectomy, investigation and management of pleural space disorders, Holter monitoring and interpretation.

Our multi-disciplinary oncology service encompasses all aspects of modern cancer medicine, from initial assessment and staging through to chemotherapy and/or surgery. We run an out-patient clinic in conjunction with referring veterinarians.

Our clinical expertise and experience, combined with state of the art endoscopy equipment, allows us to offer a full range of diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures,

We work in partnership with a team of Diagnostic Imaging Specialists who have a wealth of experience across the range of sophisticated imaging equipment at their disposal. This includes facilities for MRI scanning, ultrasound, computed radiography, echocardiography and fluoroscopy. Although many centres offer advanced diagnostic imaging, without the specialist experience of specific techniques, and the expertise to interpret results, their true benefits may not be realised.

Our on-site laboratory, headed by a European Specialist in Veterinary Clinical Pathology, provides us with consistently accurate results with minimum delay. Our clinical pathologist is an integral part of the medicine team, attending rounds each morning to discuss laboratory results in the light of clinical findings.
