For Veterinary Surgeons
Specialist Referral Services
Oncology
Our Oncology Services are managed by the Internal Medicine team
headed by Rob Foale, assisted by Simon
Tappin and Jon Wray
Our comprehensive, multidisciplinary oncology service
encompasses all aspects of modern cancer medicine, from the initial
assessment, clinical disease staging (via, for example,
comprehensive diagnostic imaging, cytology and bone marrow
evaluation) and paraneoplastic complication consideration through
to chemotherapy and/or comprehensive surgery, including
intra-cavitary cytotoxic therapy administration where appropriate.
When required, arrangements can be made for external beam radiation
therapy.
In addition to our clinical work, we have several on-going
scientific investigations in the field of small animal oncology,
thereby endeavouring to advance our knowledge and bring further
benefits to patients in the future.
We also run an out-patient Oncology Clinic for regular
chemotherapy appointments, run by the Specialists and dedicated
medical nurses and we are very happy to work in conjunction with
referring veterinarians to help decide upon and administer
appropriate chemotherapeutic regimes. We also always offer to make
ourselves available to the clients and the referring veterinary
surgeons at any point after the patient has been discharged should
further advice or guidance be sought.
