Dick White Referrals

Additional ECC Specialist

Since the Emergency and Critical Care Department was established by Lindsay Kellett-Gregory last year, the case load has grown rapidly and an additional Specialist has just been recruited.

The establishment of ECC as a separate discipline was considered necessary in 2018 as the number of emergency referrals, requiring sophisticated facilities and expertise, had grown considerably.

Lindsay Kellett-Gregory was recruited to set up the department and has since received increasing numbers of patients referred with life-threatening diseases and injuries. To address this, Emily Thomas has been appointed as a second Specialist. Emily is an American and European Boarded Specialist in Emergency and Critical Care and brings with her 6 years of post residency experience, gained in both academic and private practice.

She undertook her 3-year Residency Programme at the University of Pennsylvania, USA, and then spent 2 years in a private referral hospital in the UK before taking up the position of ECC Staff Clinician at the Royal Veterinary College, London.

Emily has published widely in peer reviewed publications and text books; and is in demand as a conference speaker, both nationally and internationally.

Lindsay commented: “Our aim is to provide an unparalleled level of care for patients in our excellent intensive care unit which will be improved even further when our new facilities are open next year. I am really looking forward to working with Emily and I am confident that she will help us to achieve our aims”.

Lindsay and Emily are supported by a team of 6 dedicated Critical Care Nurses and the service is available around the clock for emergency admissions.
