Keep your eye on the (eye)ball – top tips for ophthalmic examination
Senior Ophthalmologist Lorraine will take you through how to get the most from your diagnostic equipment and ophthalmic examination in this introductory lecture. How to use the direct ophthalmoscope for more than retinal examination; sampling the eye, taking reliable intraocular pressures, indirect ophthalmoscopy and ophthalmic stains.
Scratching the surface – ocular surface disease in cats and dogs
Clinician Inês will discuss the components of the lacrimal functional unit and how they contribute to the tear film production and its stability. She will cover the different diagnostics to assess the tear film and the different treatment options for tear film disorders while discussing clinical cases.
Hidden in plain sight! Eye problems masking underlying systemic diseases
The eye is a unique organ as it is so readily examinable and owners are usually quick to notice if something is wrong with their pet’s eyes. Clinician Inês will go through a number of cases which, although initially presenting as eye problems, were masking underlying systemic diseases.
How to ‘see your way through’ an approach to blindness in cats and dogs
In this two hour talk, clinician Tom will cover a clinical approach to patients that present with blindness. He will discuss differential diagnoses for blindness, further investigations and go through some practical case examples.
