Develop your career with DWR and be part of something special!  An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate and enthusiastic qualified Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our vibrant Medicine Ward Nursing Team for a fixed term of one year.

Our busy, purpose-built clinic is fully equipped with the surgical equipment and diagnostic facilities commensurate with a flagship specialist veterinary centre.The Medicine Ward Nurses are responsible for nursing Internal Medicine patients, as well as Cardiology and Oncology patients within our Medicine ward.  The nurses work closely alongside each other to ensure there is always good communication in the ward, and a high level of patient care at all times.  Each day is different due to the large variety of cases we see. The main nursing tasks you can expect to carry out are attending ward rounds to help get a detailed understanding of the patient’s history, results and treatment plan for the day. Invoicing all inpatients in the ward, ensuring each patient has charges added for the day. Alongside carrying out hourly treatments, we work closely alongside Internal Medicine procedures nurses to recover patients from GAs and procedures – also helping to admit patients, place IV catheters and take blood samples.  We carry out procedures in the ward including placement of naso oesophageal feeding tubes, urinary catheter placements, freestyle monitor placement and Holter monitors.  We ensure that all patients are kept comfortable with the ward capacity being up to 24 patients at one time. Due to spending all our time in Medicine Ward, and occasionally Feline Ward, we really get to know our patients and take a lot of pride and care in our ward!. Medicine Ward nursing at DWR is demanding and it can be busy, but it is an incredibly rewarding job. This position will suit an RVN with a keen interest in Internal Medicine, who is willing to learn and develop their knowledge in Medical nursing.

Successful Candidate:

You will have excellent all-round nursing skills, with a passion and drive for delivering outstanding client and patient care. You will be a team player who enjoys working in a supportive working environment whilst also being able to use your initiative and challenge the status quo.  Referral nursing experience is not necessary as full training will be provided.

This is a full time position for a fixed term of one year, working a 40-hour week between the hours of 6.30 am and 6.30 pm Monday to Friday and a 1:5 weekend rota with compensated time off and paid overtime.

Internal Medicine Nurse – RVN

Develop your career with DWR and be part of something special!  Due to an expanding caseload, an opportunity has arisen for a passionate and enthusiastic qualified Registered Veterinary Nurse to join the vibrant Internal Medicine Nursing Team working in our busy, purpose-built clinic that is fully equipped with the surgical equipment and diagnostic facilities commensurate with a flagship specialist veterinary centre.

Currently the Internal Medicine Service encompasses: gastroenterology, immunology, haematology, endocrinology, cardiology and respiratory cases. This role is largely anaesthesia and procedure-based, thus enables candidates to maintain a wide and varied skill set.

On a typical day you will be involved with assisting the veterinary surgeon with a range of diagnostic or therapeutic procedures to include but not limited to; various endoscopy procedures, thoracocentesis and/or chest drain placement, bone marrow biopsy, feeding tube placement, pericardiocentesis etc. You will be largely involved with the anaesthesia and sedation for these cases on a daily basis, working closely with our team of highly skilled anaesthetists. As an Internal Medicine Nurse, you will also work with our Diagnostic Imaging and Cardiology Departments, giving you the chance to see a varied and exciting case load. Our Internal Medicine Department has a high emergency case load, thus Internal Medicine Nurses are also provided with the opportunity to utilise their skills in ECC and triage.

Successful Candidate

You will have excellent all-round nursing skills with a minimum of one-year post qualification experience. The ideal candidate will be competent and confident with general anaesthesia, and will have experience with anaesthetising both routine and higher-risk patients. Experience with general anaesthesia for a range of endoscopy procedures is also desirable but not essential.

You will have a keen interest in internal medicine, and be keen to progress your knowledge and expertise within this area. You will be a team player who enjoys working in a supportive working environment whilst also being able to use your initiative and challenge the status quo. Referral nursing experience is not necessary as full training will be provided. However, experience working in a busy and fast-paced environment is desirable.

This is a full time 40-hour week position. 8-hour shifts are worked between the hours of 08.00 and 18.00 Monday to Friday and a 1:5 weekend rota with compensated time off and paid overtime.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate and enthusiastic qualified Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our vibrant Neurology Nursing Team working in a busy, purpose-built clinic that is fully equipped with the facilities commensurate with a flagship specialist veterinary centre. The position will involve all aspects of nursing care of inpatients.

You will have excellent all-round nursing skills, with a passion and drive for delivering outstanding client and patient care. You will be a team player who enjoys working in a supportive working environment whilst also being able to use your initiative and challenge the status quo.  Referral nursing experience is not necessary as full training will be provided.

This is a ward based position that focuses on hands-on, exemplary nursing care based on the individual needs of each patient. The neurology nurse is highly involved with all aspects of nursing care of patients with varied neurological conditions, including traumatic brain injuries, inflammatory CNS conditions, seizures and spinal surgeries. Due to the types of illness, many of our patients will be hospitalised for relatively long periods of time so this role does give the opportunity to get to know them as individuals and to see them develop in their recovery. Although fast paced and busy, this is a very rewarding role.
