As an employer of over 300 people, DWR is acutely aware of the importance of mental health skills and awareness in the creation of a safe, healthy workplace.

 For that reason, we have implemented a programme of Mental Health First Aider Training. This involves 2 days of training by qualified instructors, at the end of which our trained colleagues will have acquired:

•        An in-depth understanding of mental health and the factors that can affect wellbeing;
•        Practical skills to spot the triggers and signs of mental health issues;
•        Confidence to step in, reassure and support a person in distress;
•        Enhanced interpersonal skills such as non-judgemental listening;
•        Knowledge to help someone recover their health by guiding them to further support – whether that’s self-help resources, through their employer, the NHS or a combination.
We believe strongly that the mental and physical health of employees should be valued equally and this initiative is a step towards ensuring that every member of our workforce feels able to voice any concerns they may have around mental health.
