As well as running an increasingly busy Ophthalmology Department, James Oliver and Ben Blacklock are responsible for the supervision of 4 Residents training to become Specialists. As an essential part of their programme, they must learn to examine the equine eye.

Horses are in fairly short supply at DWR Veterinary Specialists and so we enlisted the help of Westbrink Farms, near Newmarket. Azzurra Massidda, Elena Fenollosa Romero, Maria-Christine Fischer and Renata Stavinohova visited the farm recently where, under the supervision of James Oliver, they examined the eyes of 13 horses of varying shapes and size. This provided them with extremely valuable experience and we are most grateful to Westbrink for facilitating this.
