Due to continued growth, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate and experienced scientist to join our Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory Team working in a busy specialist veterinary centre.
The position will be based in our Blood Sciences Department which covers haematology, biochemistry and endocrinology. Blood film examination would be a large part of the role alongside urinalysis, performing QC, maintenance of analysers, stock control and training of colleagues/students when required. Multidisciplinary work in Microbiology and Histology may be involved on an ad hocbasis and dependent on the interests of the individual. The role will be supported by the Laboratory Manager and Senior BMS in blood sciences. Colleagues are encouraged to participate in CPD and undertake further training.
This is a full time 40-hour per week position, working 8-hour shifts between 06:30 and 18:00 Monday to Friday. The post holder would be required to partake in the 1 in 5 Saturday rota and Bank Holiday rota. The Laboratory is not open on Sundays or Christmas day.
The ideal candidate will have experience in Haematology (either human or veterinary) and/ or other areas of blood sciences with an interest in learning more about veterinary diagnostics. They will hold a degree in a relevant science subject, ideally Biomedical Science or Bioveterinary Science. Experience with any of our analysers or similar would be advantageous: Advia 2120, Beckman Coulter AU480 and Siemens Immulite 2000.
Computer literacy is essential with the ability to pick up use of our Laboratory Information and Practice Management Systems quickly.
