We are currently seeking to recruit a part-time maternity cover dispensary assistant to join our busy team.

This role will be responsible for dispensing the correct medication, controlling and maintaining hospital stock and communicating appropriately both with clients and suppliers. Qualifications for this role are non-essential as mandatory training will be given. The successful applicant will be expected to complete a training course to become a Suitable Qualified Person (SQP) through the Animal Medicines Training Regulatory Authority.

Duties and key responsibilities:

  • Communicating with clients via email and phone
  • Communicating with suppliers
  • Dispensing medications according to veterinary instruction
  • Writing repeat prescriptions for veterinary authorisation
  • Handling all agents appropriately including cytotoxic and controlled drugs
  • Sourcing all required drugs, stock and supplies
  • Managing stock control, including stock check, product rotations and maintaining hospital supplies
  • Recording batch numbers and maintain administration records
  • Maintaining cleanliness and tidiness of work space / clinical area
  • Arranging collection of bodies for post mortem
  • Arranging for transport of ashes
  • Pricing of colleague accounts


Monday to Wednesday 08:30 – 17:30,

1 in 4 Saturdays: 9:00 – 13:00

(hours negotiable for the right candidate)

Salary:                        Depending on experience and qualifications
