Small Animal Neurology Specialist
Due to an increasing caseload, the Neurology and Neurosurgery Department is expanding and we now seek to recruit an additional Neurology Specialist to join our team.We are offering an outstanding opportunity for a highly motivated, dynamic and enthusiastic colleague to join our team of 3 small animal Neurology Specialists, 3 ECVN Residents and 2 Neurology Interns.The successful candidate should hold a relevant Diploma (ACVIM or ECVN) or PhD, or be eligible to sit the Diploma examination. Part time working, job share and flexible working are all encouraged to ensure a good work/life balance.
DWR is a busy, purpose-built specialist referral-only small animal veterinary hospital based in Six Mile Bottom, Suffolk, UK, located only 8 miles from the vibrant and historic university city of Cambridge, with excellent connections to London, the Midlands and the stunning East Anglian coast. Stansted airport is also only 30 minutes away by car. The hospital is fully equipped with the surgical, diagnostic and hospitalisation facilities commensurate with a flagship Specialist veterinary hospital and also has an on-site reference laboratory with both in-house clinical pathology and diagnostic histopathology. DWR was founded in 2003 by Professor Dick White and has grown rapidly to become the largest private veterinary referral hospital in the UK, currently employing 36 Specialists, 30 Residents and 14 Interns who, along with our 250-strong support staff, provide 24/7 referral-only services for patients across England in soft tissue surgery, orthopaedic surgery, ophthalmology, diagnostic imaging, neurology and neurosurgery, anaesthesia and analgesia, internal medicine, oncology, dermatology, cardiology, physiotherapy, clinical pathology and histopathology. As we are also an Educational Partner with the University of Nottingham, the successful candidate will be awarded Honorary Associate Professor status with this institution. Clinical research activity and participation is therefore also positively encouraged and colleagues currently collaborate with scientific, medical and veterinary institutions across the UK and further afield in many on-going studies.
Our neurological facilities currently include a 0.4T MRI (Hitachi), electrophysiology unit (Medtronic), a 16-slice CT (Philips), CUSA and a full range of neurosurgical equipment and a dedicated neurosurgery theatre, ward and physiotherapy unit, which are supported by direct access to a radiation therapy unit. We have also commenced the building of a 3000 m2hospital extension due to open in mid-2019 which will include a new 1.5T GE MRI, further surgical theatres and significantly enhanced oncological treatment facilities. Our annual caseload is about 1,500 for neurology and 500 for neurosurgery.
