Our impressive new building will be open to clients and their pets in early 2023. The new facilities will ensure that we remain at the top of our class as one of the largest and best-equipped multi-disciplinary veterinary referral centres in Europe. We are proud to be able to further build on the first-class care of pets who come through our doors and our well-respected research and training programmes.

Unrivalled, personalised customer service

Our clients will experience a unique bespoke level of care as they step through our doors, and while their precious pets are with us. They will be met by a concierge style first-class greeting and introduction to their dedicated Case Manager, who will be their main point of contact while their pet stays with us.

For as little or as long as our clients are with us, our calming new environment and dedicated highly trained teams will ensure they are put at ease during what can be a very difficult and stressful time, feeling reassured with their needs comfortably and fully met.

Innovative services and facilities

Our new £15 million plus extension is tripling our building space to 50k square feet providing innovative services and 24/7 facilities including:

  • Doubling of our kennel capacity
  • Tripling the number of consulting rooms with dedicated cat consult rooms and separate dog and cat waiting areas and wards
  • A brand new fully-equipped Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with an emergency 24/7 critical care referral service
  • Cutting edge services and care with our 15 veterinary specialist-led disciplines including our Open Heart Surgery Programme (one of only 3 in the world)
  • A new seminar room with capacity for 70 people for CPD, training and events
  • A new fully kitted-out Diagnostic Imaging suite which has been updated with brand-new state-of-the-art imaging equipment including Gradient Echo MRI and CT scanners and additional ultrasound and X-Ray machines
  • Innovative patient journeys through our hospital with a new dedicated patient hub for triaging animals and moving them more efficiently to the right service

Best in class technology

We’ve invested in the latest technology to deliver the best diagnosis, treatment and care for the pets who are referred to us.  At DWR, we’re well known for our incredible level of specialist-led clinical care with expert and well-known vets in their field travelling from around the world to work and study in our hospital. They are supported by outstanding highly trained nursing teams who provide the best in nursing care and comfort, looking after our clients’ pets like they were their own.

Going Green

Our building has been constructed using sustainable practices. We’ve consulted closely with Investors in the Environment (IIE) to reduce our environmental impact, not only during the build but also in the future ongoing running of the hospital.

The new site gives us a chance to achieve the top-level IIE Green accreditation as the new building holds an A-rated Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) and recycled vinyl flooring, ceiling tiles and acoustic panelling.

Looking after our teams

We believe that looking after our people is vitally important, not only for their health and wellbeing but for the pets who they care for. Our new building is expansive with a great deal of natural light and green plants providing a calm working environment.

The new building has plenty of open office space as well as meeting rooms, private booths, and an on-site seminar room to support the training DWR is so well-known for. We have new staff welfare and reflection spaces as well as an outside balcony, and a large canteen and kitchen facility.

This new space will support our reputation as a world class teaching and research hospital with Intern and Residency programmes in all clinical services. Our nursing teams work in multi-disciplinary and discipline focused areas supported and trained in specialist skills and our non-clinical teams are developed with a focus on their training and career progression.
