Puppy Heart Murmur Clinic

Puppy Heart Murmur Clinic

If you find a heart murmur during a routine puppy check you might feel it appropriate to refer your patient to our Cardiology service for specialist assessment. This can give the owners peace of mind that there isn't a longer term problem.

The cost of the clinic is £275, and the assessment and scan will be undertaken by a board-certified Cardiologist.

Heart intervention

Placement of a Amplatz Canine Duct Occluder (ACDO) (which remains in place for life) for a puppy with a Patent Ductus Arteriosus - A condition where the opening between the two major blood vessels leading from the heart fails to close after birth - If a PDA isn’t closed then the dog may experience heart failure as the heart gets bigger and this is usually before a year old.
