The DWR Academy opened in 2016 in response to the recognised shortage of qualified veterinary nurses and nursing assistants in the UK.

This summer saw the first graduates from the Level 2 Diploma for Veterinary Care Assistant Course and we have just received the second intake of students for the 3-year Level 3 Diploma in Veterinary Nursing.

In order to ensure that the Academy continues to develop, we have appointed Ali Heywood as a dedicated Principal. Ali has worked in veterinary nursing education for over 20 years and, prior to joining us, she was a Programme Manager for over 200 nurses. Ali serves as an OSCE examiner for RCVS and City and Guilds.
