Dick White Academy Principal, Ali Heywood, has recently been appointed to the RCVS Veterinary Nurse Visitation Panel. Ali will serve as the Further Education Industry representative and will shortly commence a period of training for the post. The aim of the panel is to ensure that student veterinary nurses, across the UK, receive the highest possible standards of training. Within this role, Ali will be making a series of one-day visits to a variety of educational institutions to assess current teaching provision and ensure that best practice procedures are in place and shared between training organisations. Ali is well placed to provide the level of experience required by the Panel. She has worked in veterinary nursing education for over 20 years, and held the position of Veterinary Nursing Director and Programme Manager at the College of West Anglia before taking up the reins at the Dick White Academy – the training arm of DWR Veterinary Specialists. Ali is delighted to have been appointed onto the panel. “I know how valuable it is to have guidance and support from bodies such as the RCVS” she said, “and this initiative will help to ensure consistent training across the industry which will be of great benefit to all stakeholders”.
