Merel qualified as a veterinarian at the University of Ghent in 2023. She spent half a year working as an out-of-hours emergency veterinarian in Antwerp before undertaking a rotating internship at Lumbry Park Veterinary Specialists. She then worked 1,5 years as an Emergency and Critical Care veterinarian at the Ludwig-Maximilians University in Munich. Merel joined DWR as a discipline-specific intern in Emergency and Critical Care in 2026 and hopes to pursue ECC residency training in the future.
