Job Title: Post Residency Clinician in Small Animal Surgery

Date Created: February 2022

Location: Newmarket / Cambridge

Reports to: Head of Department

Develop your career with DWR and be part of something special!

DWR is a busy, expanding, state of the art, multi-disciplinary, small animal specialist referral only hospital conveniently located in Cambridgeshire between Newmarket, the home of horse racing and Cambridge, with its world-renowned university and amenities. With a large, varied, and exciting surgical caseload, we are seeking a further colleague to join us as a post residency clinician in small animal surgery.

Your role and responsibilities

This position will ideally commence in July 2022 and is suitable for an ECVS/ACVS trained resident who is soon to complete their final year of training. It is an ideal position for a board eligible surgeon who is seeking to augment their clinical skills in a supportive private practice setting. Ideally the surgeon will divide their time equally between the soft tissue and orthopaedic departments, however this is negotiable. We will provide six weeks of paid study time prior to ECVS exams in February 2023.

The candidate will join a team of diplomates, residents and interns and will see cases independently whilst still working within a supportive clinical environment with access to journal clubs, M&M rounds and resident presentations. For the right candidate, extension of this position or conversion (depending on examination success) of the position to consultant level is likely to be available.

Applicants must either be a member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons or hold a veterinary degree qualifying them for membership. The successful applicant will have completed an ECVS/ACVS certified residency programme prior to commencement of the position and be planning to sit the examination in February 2023.

As you would expect from one of the UK’s largest private veterinary referral hospitals, we offer an inspiring and friendly working environment together with career development opportunities and an attractive benefits package.
